The second book in Rebecca Donovan's Breathing series, Barely Breathing was really slow to start. Kept finding myself wondering where she was trying to go with the story but, after about half way in, I was hooked in and didn't want to put it down. Now, that being said, there were several instances of cringe while I was reading because some of the decisions Emma makes were just really bad ones and the things she kept from Evan bothered me. Evan started to look like a push over to me, I mean, her ditching school with another man all day with no explanation and he didn't flip out, he just seems too understanding, almost to the point of being weak. Once again, we were left with a cliff hanger and I am really looking forward to reading the final installment and finding out how Emma's story plays out. Solid 4 stars!
