Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy)

Sins & Needles - Karina Halle I had the absolute pleasure of getting to beta read this book. Karina Halle is a mad genius, you can tell by the frenetic pace of this story and I could tell with the rapidity of the e-mails she sent with this manuscript, that her mind works in ways that I could only wish my own did. I have to be honest, I have been completely (but pleasantly) surprised by authors who have asked me to beta read their books lately. It is really amazing that people read my inane ramblings here on goodreads, but for anyone to actually seek me out and ask for my opinion...it's mind boggling. It's also nerve wracking because I have a penchant for telling the truth, I just can't lie about how I feel, so when Karina asked me to read this book, at first, I thought, "get to read one of your books before publication...HELL YEAH!" But then, the worry came that I might not like it and ugh, I was afraid that she would think I was a huge bitch if I had to tell her that it wasn't to my liking. Thank Ja, because that worry was completely unfounded. This book is original with multifaceted characters who weren't picked up at characters-r-us and tossed into the same old, refurbished story. I was pleasantly surprised by the actions of both characters and the development of them as the story progressed to it's ending. The situations they were placed in and the way the story unfurled, it reminded me of a movie, a really kick-ass adventure movie with a hot male lead and super steamy love scenes that I can imagine myself taking more than one trip to the theater to see. It's good, people...really good. Completely different from EIT or The Devil's Metal, and good enough to stand on it's own, I highly recommend picking this one up on release day, you won't be sorry that you did!
